During the Review of the Laboratory Department’s Charge Master, we will verify the accuracy of CPT Codes, Revenue Center Codes, Descriptions, and Modifiers. Additionally, we will validate the accuracy of “panels”, address bundling and unbundling issues, verify the need for charge explosions, as well as meet with the Laboratory Director to determine that appropriate line item selection processes are followed. We will also review a sample of medical records, UB-04s, and detail bills, to insure that the items selected are appropriately listed in medical records, and that they are also billed appropriately. All other aspects of our Charge Master Reviews follow compliance guidelines, including the final report.
