PRC
was founded, and established, in 1979, by our current
Chief Executive Officer, Brian Herschkowitz, who
was previously Reimbursement Manager for a large
Fiscal Intermediary. Through his work with hospitals,
Brian identified that most hospitals needed assistance
in meeting the demands placed on them by current,
and ever changing Government guidelines and regulations.
PRC’s initial focus was directed at hospitals
and their preparations and filings of their Medicare
and Medicaid cost reports. In 1984, PRC began to
include Reviews on ICD-9-CM coding, DRG assignments,
and PPS reimbursement. By 1990, the Government
had included outpatient issues and CPT codes to
their compliance and reimbursement focus, which
included Charge Masters and Medical Records. PRC
had already begun to develop a staff of fully credentialed,
highly educated, specially trained, and experienced
consultants to review “providers” compliance
and reimbursement, and we developed the services
that our clients needed to meet their objectives.
As this area of consulting grew, PRC relinquished
it’s position on cost reports, and directed
their resources into Charge Masters, Medical Record Coding,
Billing, Compliance, Education, and all other related activities.
